Is DeepSeek-r1 model open source ? If yes, where is the weights and the model code?
If not, are there any future plans of releasing the code as open source?
@neuralpain commented on GitHub (Jan 28, 2025):
Yes, the model is open source. The repository is available on HuggingFace (the AI community).
Clone the repository using the instructions below.
@yboy23 commented on GitHub (Jan 28, 2025):
I think it is Open Model, not Open Source.
@aino-debasish commented on GitHub (Jan 28, 2025):
@neuralpain is this model code open source or only model files ?
@neuralpain commented on GitHub (Jan 28, 2025):
From what I've seen, the repo only contains the model tensor files.
@aino-debasish commented on GitHub (Jan 28, 2025):
Bit funny.. but the entire code base seems to be in this single file
huggingface.co/deepseek-ai/DeepSeek-R1@1ec371e241/modeling_deepseek.pyand a few other .py files that handle embeddings etc.
@neuralpain can you please confirm ?
@neuralpain commented on GitHub (Jan 28, 2025):
@aino-gautam yeah, that seems to be the core logic of the AI. I must've overlooked this amongst the other files.
@aino-debasish commented on GitHub (Jan 28, 2025):
ofcourse .. to reproduce the entire model i.e. pipeline dataset etc is the real herculian task and that would take some serious efforts. and huggingface team is already on top of this topic here
