Original GitHub issue: https://github.com/deepseek-ai/awesome-deepseek-agent/issues/433

The one-command Codex setup script at https://cdn.deepseek.com/api-docs/codex-deepseek-setup-en.sh (v1.4.0) rewrites ~/.codex/models.json from its embedded catalog. Every model entry ships with:

"auto_review_model_override": null

Codex's automatic approval reviewer (approvals_reviewer = "auto_review", the desktop app default) then falls back to its built-in codex-auto-review id, and the DeepSeek API rejects it:

The supported API model names are deepseek-v4-flash, deepseek-v4-pro, but you passed codex-auto-review

The reviewer fails closed, so every escalated action is denied until the user patches the catalog by hand. And re-running the script undoes that patch.

Suggested fix: write auto_review_model_override as the selected model slug when generating the catalog, and keep an existing value on refresh instead of resetting it to null. That's the only change needed on the script side.

Workaround and upstream detail: openai/codex#31255, openai/codex#47917. A docs note for the Moon Bridge flow went into #432. If this isn't the right repo for the script, please forward it to the owner.
