What
Adds
docs/proposals/windows-support.md— an all-in design proposal for running the Linuxdocker-lxc-daemonon Windows. The daemon is Linux-only (LXC + ~20 host tools + ZFS/PVE), so Windows support means the Docker Desktop model: run the engine inside a managed Linux VM and bridge the Windows Docker socket into it. This proposal commits to both backends and the install UX:
docker/compose/buildon the Windows CLI via an isolatedDOCKER_CONFIG, and clean coexistence with an existing Docker Desktop.Scope covered
Socket bridge + transports (stdio relay / hvsock / loopback), a per-backend security/trust model (pipe SDDL, channel token auth, WSL2-is-not-a-security-boundary), Windows-path volumes, published-port reachability, build, an honest capability matrix, a spike-gated phased rollout, CI/testing, packaging + mandatory signing, ongoing maintenance cost, measurable phase-annotated success criteria, and explicit non-goals (WCOW, streaming, Kubernetes, arm64 Hyper-V).
Process
Docs-only. Refined through two roundtable review passes (five seats on the full draft, three on the Hyper-V + installer designs); each blocking/major finding and its resolution is recorded in the proposal's review log (§16).
