Observed behavior

Source-only finding: readers selecting fifteen translated README editions lose the packet-summary row's qualification that the integration was verified on Linux. Their requirements cells name the supplied Wireshark tools and link to the summary guide, but omit the verification scope preserved in English and six other editions.

The comparison command below printed fifteen filenames. It excludes Simplified Chinese because the existing open PR #3113 already restores that edition's qualification. Including Chinese produces sixteen omissions at the tested revision.

Reproduction

  1. Use source revision 65f1c447344a423fa2785847dbcea1e9a9e2454a.
  2. From the repository root, run:
python3 -I - <<'PYTHON'
from pathlib import Path
line = next(x for x in Path('README.md').read_text().splitlines()
            if '(docs/pcap-analysis.md)' in x)
print('English:', line.split('|')[-2].strip())
missing = []
for path in sorted(Path('docs/readme').glob('README_*.md')):
    rows = [x for x in path.read_text().splitlines()
            if '(../pcap-analysis.md)' in x]
    assert len(rows) == 1, path
    if 'Linux' not in rows[0] and path.name != 'README_zh.md':
        missing.append(path.name)
        print(path.name)
print(f'Unqualified rows excluding the Simplified Chinese row covered by PR #3113: {len(missing)}')
PYTHON
  1. Read the printed rows and compare their complete requirements cells with the English cell. The English cell includes (Linux-verified); the fifteen selected cells contain no verification qualification.

One independent comparison run and one reduced reproduction run confirmed the same baseline mismatch. No analysis provider was invoked.

Expected behavior

The translated summary requirements should preserve the English verification qualification. The contribution guide makes English the reference for translated requirements and analysis claims. The owning pcap-summary guide limits its current real-tool verification statement to Linux and expressly leaves actual Windows/Bun execution unverified. Preserve that distinction without implying that every admitted platform has been verified.

Impact and scope

P3 wording defect: fifteen documentation entry points omit a material qualification present in their reference edition. The linked English guide supplies the correct scope, so readers can recover it there. No failed analysis, false packet result, or consequential runtime change was demonstrated. Whether a reader actually relied on the omission is unknown.

REA version

Exact node scripts/rea.mjs --version output:

6.8.0

Source revision: 65f1c447344a423fa2785847dbcea1e9a9e2454a.

Runtime and platform

Node.js v24.22.1; macOS 27.0.1; Darwin arm64. Documentation inspection and CLI version query only; Wireshark was not started.

Target and artifact context

Published README translations and their linked documentation. No capture file or external target was needed.

Relevant output or evidence

The executed reproduction printed the English requirements cell with (Linux-verified), then these fifteen filenames and a count of 15:

README_ar.md
README_de.md
README_es.md
README_fa.md
README_fr.md
README_id.md
README_it.md
README_ja.md
README_pl.md
README_pt-BR.md
README_ru.md
README_th.md
README_uk.md
README_vi.md
README_zh-TW.md

At the tested revision, the English row is README.md:222. Under docs/readme/, the corresponding omitted qualification is at line 169 in the listed files except README_fa.md:170, README_id.md:172, and README_ru.md:177. The complete cells were inspected, rather than treating a missing Latin-script keyword alone as proof of a translation defect.

CONTRIBUTING.md:305-316 defines translation corrections and the English reference. docs/pcap-analysis.md:138-150 supplies the actual verification statement. Its host admission at lines 30-34 is a separate fact: capture summaries admit Linux and Windows with their required memory bounds, while macOS capture inspection returns a capability gap.

docs/packet-captures.md:3-13 and 144-150 concern the distinct selected-field packet inspection family. Its Linux-only execution requirement should not be substituted for the summary family's verification qualification.

Additional context

Related open PR #3113 already changes the Simplified Chinese summary cell to include Linux verification; that edition is deliberately excluded here. Merged PR #3046 repaired Korean, which retains the qualification at this baseline. No matching report for the remaining fifteen editions was found in the open/closed issue, PR, and comment searches.

The missing qualification establishes documentation drift. It does not establish that these tools fail on every platform outside Linux, or that any particular non-Linux execution was tested.
