📄 Description

Builds on #7274 (and #7260): the branch holds their commits until they merge; this PR's own changes are its feat commits.

Summary

Agent trajectories from 418 eval runs on rebuilt environments, and the write plans of the recordings they ran on, showed
three gaps REA could close:

  • Query values. Served tools typed query parameters as strings, while agents send page sizes and flags as JSON
numbers and booleans (maxSize: 50, withItems: true). The MCP server refused those calls before REA saw them: 63
runs hit it in EspoCRM, Homebox and PhotoPrism, and 18 never got the tool to answer.
  • Counted and made values. Vikunja numbers a project's tasks past those deleted earlier, spells the number in
identifier, and makes a subscription object with each task. A second create disagreed with the first on all three,
    so task creates were withheld.
  • Bulk creates. Vikunja's UI creates tasks through POST /projects/{id}/tasks/bulk, wrapping the task in
tasks: [ … ] both ways. REA linked the call to no type, and a linked create served only the project it was recorded
    in.

This PR:

  1. Accepts numbers and booleans for query parameters and sends them as their JSON text.
  2. Lets a sequence start where the first create stood (start), and adopts a later create's composed, template or
started sequence rule when it also spells the first create's value.
  3. Adds a made-object rule: an object made with the entity, its stamped members taking the write's clock, members
holding the entity's id taking it, and counts going one past the held objects' values.
  4. Links a create whose answer wraps the entity in a one-element array member, and lets a linked create take any path
values when it creates into its type's own parameterless collection and stores each path value in a field.
  5. Asks recordings to read each listed object by id (skill 53), since an object known only from a list that leaves out
fields its own read shows can be neither read by id nor updated.

Results:

  • Over 130 recorded captures, served writes go from 332 to 333 and none goes from served to withheld: Vikunja's bulk
task create. Vikunja's task create in main's recording is explained too, but main's unknown-clock withholds it in
both builds (before that rule: 339 to 341).
  • Rebuilding 16 recordings with #7274 and with this branch, 58 write tasks pass 29/58 and 24/58 (gpt-oss, GLM) against
28/58 and 23/58, and no recording passes fewer: Vikunja's bulk-create recording passes its create task with both
    models.
  • Agents' calls refused at input validation: 34 with #7274, 1 with this branch.

Problem and expected behavior

  • A query value an agent gives as a number or boolean should be sent as the text a URL carries.
  • A counter that continues past values the state does not hold, a string built around it, and an object made with each
entity should not contradict the creates that show them.
  • A bulk create of one entity should link to its type, and a linked create should accept path values it stores in
    fields.
  • Captures that need none of this should build the same plans as before.

Change and scope

  • Query values (environmentTools.ts, environmentToolAnswer.ts): the query property's oneOf gains number and
boolean; withQueryText spells them where a call enters serving, for replay and state alike.
  • Sequence start and later rules (environmentStateWriteCreate.ts, environmentStateWriteCreateCalls.ts,
environmentStateWriteValues.ts, environmentStateWriteAnswer.ts): the exemplar records integer fields above every
held value; the merge adopts a later rule that spells the exemplar's value; startedSequence floors replay and
    serving.
  • Made objects (environmentStateWriteStamps.ts, environmentStateWriteRules.ts, environmentStateView.ts,
environmentStateWriteApply.ts): createdMadeObject requires a member the request stamped; counts merge with the
exemplar's value as start; later calls are checked by followsMadeObjects; serving keys each count's sequence.
  • Linked creates (environmentStateWriteLinks.ts): respondedIds reads a one-element array member;
anyLinkedSource applies in replay and serving.
  • Skill (version 53) and docs: docs/web-network-captures.md, docs/agent-environments.md,
    docs/specs/agent-environments/write-call-values/.

Not included: path parameters given as numbers (required properties, kept free of combinators); a counter one
create alone shows; recordings whose request bodies Chromium did not expose.

Contract and boundary impact

  • Semantic owner and earliest changed stage: the environment-state write model and served tool schemas.
  • Contribution scope fit and linked maintainer decision: within the environment-state writes of #4933.
  • CLI and MCP/tool-catalog contract: served environment tools advertise number and boolean for query
parameters. environment-state views may carry sequence.start and made-object rules. The compact MCP catalog
    stays under its frame.
  • Provider, bridge, target-format, or platform compatibility: unchanged.
  • Evidence, artifact, provenance, or reconstruction contract: views with the new members are refused by earlier REA
    versions, whose schemas are strict.
  • Target selection, authority, upstream behavior, and cleanup details: not applicable.
  • Generated metadata, package, or installation impact: skill version 52 to 53, on #7274's 52.

Expected effects:

  • Read existing files or captured data.
  • Launch or attach to a process.
  • Inject instrumentation or run scripts/code.
  • Change process memory, registers, files, or configuration.
  • Contact network services.
  • Recover protected code or work around protections.
  • Documentation or usability only; no target interaction.
  • Not sure yet; investigation or maintainer guidance needed.

Evidence and regression coverage

Write plans (#7274 at 67afb9df against this branch at 34372105, 130 captures): 615 plans; served 332 and 333;
no write from served to withheld; six plans that stay withheld explain more fields; views change only in #7260's two Vikunja recordings whose
UI bodies were lost, where a scratch task the bulk create made is no longer held as seeded.

The same recordings, built by #7274 and by this branch (gpt-oss, GLM):

Recording Write tasks #7274 This branch
Vikunja: #7260 final (bulk creates) 3 + 2 1/5 1/5 2/5 2/5
Vikunja: main (two), saved-values (two), #7260 (first two) 6 × (3 + 2) 6/30 6/30 6/30 6/30
EspoCRM: main, #7260 (three), saved-values 5 × 3 15/15 10/15 15/15 10/15
Homebox: main, #7260 final, saved-values (two) 4 × 2 6/8 6/8 6/8 6/8
Total 58 28/58 23/58 29/58 24/58
  • Main's unknown-clock withholds the task create and tag create of main's Vikunja and Homebox recordings in both
builds. Before that rule, rebuilt on #7274 at 4ede1305, this batch made main's Vikunja create task pass with both
    models and changed nothing else.
  • Tests added: src/domain/analysisView/environmentStateMadeValues.test.ts,
    src/application/environment/environmentStateMadeValuesAnswer.test.ts,
    src/application/environment/environmentQueryText.test.ts and a case in
    tests/boundary/mcp/environmentServeMcp.test.ts, with fixtures in tests/fixtures/environmentStateMadeValues.ts.
  • Base reproduction: the seven behaviour tests fail on #7274 at 4ede1305.
  • Remaining proof gaps: see "Not verified" in the spec folder's verification.

For evidence-bearing changes:

  • Observed, derived, and inferred claims remain distinguishable.
  • Artifact identity, source provenance, and failed attempts remain preserved.
  • Unsupported, incomplete, unavailable, or uncertain outcomes remain visible.

Validation performed

  • npm run -s check:fast, format:check, scan:todos, docs:check, verify:test-discovery, mcp-catalog:check and
jscpd: passed, merged with #7274 at 45832406.
  • npx knip: staticFileUrlPath and ObjcClassImportBindingCoverage only, which main 8706068b added.
  • npx vitest run --project domain --project services: 11,430 passed, 6 skipped. --project adapters: 7,437 passed,
19 skipped, 3 failed (the Inspector cancellation test and two AppKit asset-catalog tests), as on #7274 at e29e9c74.
  • npm run -s test:focused -- environment build, export and serve CLI, analysis-view CLI and MCP, environment serve
MCP boundaries: 7 files, 80 passed. outputSchemaProfile, toolSchemaValidity, mcpSchemaValidation,
outputSchemaSemanticConstraints and analysisViewMcp: 5 files, 54 passed.
  • The seven new behaviour tests fail on #7274 at 4ede1305 and pass here.
  • Census and task runs as above; the task runs on Ubuntu 24.04 VMs.

Review round at 34372105, on macOS with Node v24.22.1:

  • 6f2553ae fixes four Greptile threads (replied in each): made-object rules count as clock writes, so main's
unknown-clock withholds them without a clock anchor; a made object links to the id field the create used, including
one the caller chose; later creates are checked against made objects as recorded, before any rewrite; and a template
is adopted only when it spells the later create's value. Its four tests fail on c94d0559.
  • ed83de32 and 2e392016 merge #7274's 2887dbf0 and 88e16f10, which carry the fixes for the other two Greptile
threads: #7260's sort checks against entities a list last showed in place, and #7274's soft-delete flag.
  • 33f954f3 corrects verification.md: six plans that stay withheld explain more, not seven; the seventh, Vikunja's
    bulk task create, is served.
  • 34372105 merges #7274's 67afb9df, which answers served deletes with the deleted flag their recorded answer
showed and carries #7260's in-turn sort retry (Greptile follow-ups, one posted here). Its census matches 33f954f3
with no plan or view changing; static checks pass but knip; domain + services 11,445 passed; focused boundaries
80 passed; the five MCP schema files: 54 passed.
  • Static checks pass but knip, as on main; domain + services 11,442 passed; focused boundaries 80 passed;
    outputSchemaProfile, toolSchemaValidity, mcpSchemaValidation, outputSchemaSemanticConstraints and
    analysisViewMcp: 5 files, 54 passed.
  • Census: 615 plans, 332 served on #7274 and 333 here, as before the round. Against c94d0559 the only plan that
changes is #7260's Metabase put_card_by_id, which loses a name sort only its create guessed.

Main merge at 6bb373a4 (main 5aa23c3d), on macOS with Node v24.22.1:

  • Main's #7267 overlaps this branch in environmentStateWriteCreate.ts, environmentStateWriteCreateCalls.ts and the
recording steps. 2ee34513 merges #7260's main merge up to its set-aside; 121b7f9a merges main taking main's side
where they overlap, so it commits without a conflict (a conflicted merge's pre-commit autofix rewrites main's own
    files); 938402f8 merges #7274's ebeea8ce; and 6bb373a4 puts this branch's side back beside main's:
made-object agreement next to the & slug spellings, sequence starts in the earlier evidence earlierOf now
builds, the combined value imports, and recording step 2 next to main's UI-first step 3. It takes skill 53 above
#7274's 52. The diff against main touches the same 59 files as before.

  • Static checks pass but knip, which reports staticFileUrlPath, ObjcClassImportBindingCoverage and
AndroidManifestComponentInventory, as main does. domain + services: 11,684 passed, 8 failed
(appleApplication.test.ts), which fail the same way on main. Focused boundaries 80 passed; the five MCP schema
    files 54 passed.

  • Census over the 130 captures: main 279, #7274 332 and this branch 333, as before the merge, and no write goes from
served to withheld. Against 34372105 only three Grafana folder creates change, to the rules main gives them.

  • 2232a53d keeps a later create's made object only when its clocks are in the rule's format and within the stamp
window of that create's own request (Greptile on #7539, which builds on this branch). Its test fails on 7d01a5d5.
Over the 130 captures and the 10-27 round's 18 recordings, no plan changes; static checks pass but knip (main's
three findings); domain + services 11,688 passed and 8 failed (main's appleApplication.test.ts); focused
    boundaries 80 passed.

  • 308aebf0 (on 2362564c) adds no made-object count a later create alone shows once more than the exemplar was
accepted, since those creates held the member unchanged, as the top-level sequence check already refuses (Greptile on
#7539). Its direct merge test fails on 2362564c. Static checks pass (knip once dist is built, which the worker
subpath imports resolve into); domain + services 11,852 passed; focused boundaries 81 passed. Over the 148
captures, 694 plans and 380 served, the same as 2362564c with no plan changing.

Compatibility, safety, and release

  • Breaking changes or migration steps: none; views with the new members are refused by earlier versions.
  • Real Hopper/Ghidra, browser, or OS coverage: not applicable; rebuilt from existing recordings.
  • Package or release metadata impact: skill version 53.
  • Security, privacy, process, or containment review: no new credential handling. A served bulk create may now create
into any project its plan stores in a field.

Maintainer validation

At ba8f1a236, the branch inherits 1106a5263 and rejects a newly learned sequence when earlier accepted creates contradict it. The new sequence regression fails on 2232a53d9. check:fast and five focused source test files passed (149 tests). No new real-provider run was performed.

At 05280937e, this branch inherits #7274’s initial soft-delete handling. The focused later-read and made-value source tests passed (33 tests).

Merge update at 06cdfe71e: resolved conflicts with main 7bc6c5bf6, retaining skill version 53 and the create request timing used by made-object rules. check:fast, 73 focused source tests, and 6 MCP boundary tests passed. No new real-provider run was performed.

Review fix at 2362564cc: list admission now checks the same live entity membership serving uses. When a captured list includes an initially deleted entity, its state-backed view is withheld as list-differs and the recorded response is replayed; item observations remain available. The new producer and serving tests fail on 06cdfe71e. check:fast, 145 focused source tests, and 7 built MCP boundary tests passed. Lists requiring replay do not gain dynamic state-backed behavior; no new real-provider run was performed.

REA linked the call to no type, and a linked create served only the project it was recorded in. This PR: 1. Accepts numbers and booleans for query parameters and sends them as their JSON text. 2. Lets a `sequence` start where the first create stood (`start`), and adopts a later create's `composed`, `template` or started `sequence` rule when it also spells the first create's value. 3. Vikunja's task create in main's recording is explained too, but main's `unknown-clock` withholds it in both builds (before that rule: 339 to 341). - Rebuilding 16 recordings with #7274 and with this branch, 58 write tasks pass 29/58 and 24/58 (gpt-oss, GLM) against 28/58 and 23/58, and no recording passes fewer: Vikunja's bulk-create recording passes its create task with both models. - Agents' calls refused at input validation: 34 with #7274, 1 with this branch. ## Problem and expected behavior - A query value an agent gives as a number or boolean should be sent as the text a URL carries. - A counter that continues past values the state does not hold, a string built around it, and an object made with each entity should not contradict the creates that show them. - A bulk create of one entity should link to its type, and a linked create should accept path values it stores in fields. - Captures that need none of this should build the same plans as before. ## Change and scope - **Query values** (`environmentTools.ts`, `environmentToolAnswer.ts`): the query property's `oneOf` gains `number` and `boolean`; `withQueryText` spells them where a call enters serving, for replay and state alike. - **Sequence start and later rules** (`environmentStateWriteCreate.ts`, `environmentStateWriteCreateCalls.ts`, `environmentStateWriteValues.ts`, `environmentStateWriteAnswer.ts`): the exemplar records integer fields above every held value; the merge adopts a later rule that spells the exemplar's value; `startedSequence` floors replay and serving. - **Made objects** (`environmentStateWriteStamps.ts`, `environmentStateWriteRules.ts`, `environmentStateView.ts`, `environmentStateWriteApply.ts`): `createdMadeObject` requires a member the request stamped; counts merge with the exemplar's value as start; later calls are checked by `followsMadeObjects`; serving keys each count's sequence. - **Linked creates** (`environmentStateWriteLinks.ts`): `respondedIds` reads a one-element array member; `anyLinkedSource` applies in replay and serving. - **Skill** (version 53) and docs: `docs/web-network-captures.md`, `docs/agent-environments.md`, `docs/specs/agent-environments/write-call-values/`. **Not included:** path parameters given as numbers (required properties, kept free of combinators); a counter one create alone shows; recordings whose request bodies Chromium did not expose. ## Contract and boundary impact - **Semantic owner and earliest changed stage:** the environment-state write model and served tool schemas. - **Contribution scope fit and linked maintainer decision:** within the environment-state writes of #4933. - **CLI and MCP/tool-catalog contract:** served environment tools advertise `number` and `boolean` for query parameters. `environment-state` views may carry `sequence.start` and `made-object` rules. The compact MCP catalog stays under its frame. - **Provider, bridge, target-format, or platform compatibility:** unchanged. - **Evidence, artifact, provenance, or reconstruction contract:** views with the new members are refused by earlier REA versions, whose schemas are strict. - **Target selection, authority, upstream behavior, and cleanup details:** not applicable. - **Generated metadata, package, or installation impact:** skill version 52 to 53, on #7274's 52. Expected effects: - [x] Read existing files or captured data. - [ ] Launch or attach to a process. - [ ] Inject instrumentation or run scripts/code. - [ ] Change process memory, registers, files, or configuration. - [ ] Contact network services. - [ ] Recover protected code or work around protections. - [ ] Documentation or usability only; no target interaction. - [ ] Not sure yet; investigation or maintainer guidance needed. ## Evidence and regression coverage **Write plans** (#7274 at `67afb9df` against this branch at `34372105`, 130 captures): 615 plans; served 332 and 333; no write from served to withheld; six plans that stay withheld explain more fields; views change only in #7260's two Vikunja recordings whose UI bodies were lost, where a scratch task the bulk create made is no longer held as seeded. **The same recordings, built by #7274 and by this branch** (gpt-oss, GLM): | Recording | Write tasks | #7274 | This branch | | ---------------------------------------------------------- | ----------- | ----------- | ----------- | | Vikunja: #7260 final (bulk creates) | 3 + 2 | 1/5 1/5 | 2/5 2/5 | | Vikunja: main (two), saved-values (two), #7260 (first two) | 6 × (3 + 2) | 6/30 6/30 | 6/30 6/30 | | EspoCRM: main, #7260 (three), saved-values | 5 × 3 | 15/15 10/15 | 15/15 10/15 | | Homebox: main, #7260 final, saved-values (two) | 4 × 2 | 6/8 6/8 | 6/8 6/8 | | Total | 58 | 28/58 23/58 | 29/58 24/58 | - Main's `unknown-clock` withholds the task create and tag create of main's Vikunja and Homebox recordings in both builds. Before that rule, rebuilt on #7274 at `4ede1305`, this batch made main's Vikunja create task pass with both models and changed nothing else. - Tests added: `src/domain/analysisView/environmentStateMadeValues.test.ts`, `src/application/environment/environmentStateMadeValuesAnswer.test.ts`, `src/application/environment/environmentQueryText.test.ts` and a case in `tests/boundary/mcp/environmentServeMcp.test.ts`, with fixtures in `tests/fixtures/environmentStateMadeValues.ts`. - Base reproduction: the seven behaviour tests fail on #7274 at `4ede1305`. - Remaining proof gaps: see "Not verified" in the spec folder's verification. For evidence-bearing changes: - [ ] Observed, derived, and inferred claims remain distinguishable. - [ ] Artifact identity, source provenance, and failed attempts remain preserved. - [ ] Unsupported, incomplete, unavailable, or uncertain outcomes remain visible. ## Validation performed - `npm run -s check:fast`, `format:check`, `scan:todos`, `docs:check`, `verify:test-discovery`, `mcp-catalog:check` and `jscpd`: passed, merged with #7274 at `45832406`. - `npx knip`: `staticFileUrlPath` and `ObjcClassImportBindingCoverage` only, which main `8706068b` added. - `npx vitest run --project domain --project services`: 11,430 passed, 6 skipped. `--project adapters`: 7,437 passed, 19 skipped, 3 failed (the Inspector cancellation test and two AppKit asset-catalog tests), as on #7274 at `e29e9c74`. - `npm run -s test:focused --` environment build, export and serve CLI, analysis-view CLI and MCP, environment serve MCP boundaries: 7 files, 80 passed. `outputSchemaProfile`, `toolSchemaValidity`, `mcpSchemaValidation`, `outputSchemaSemanticConstraints` and `analysisViewMcp`: 5 files, 54 passed. - The seven new behaviour tests fail on #7274 at `4ede1305` and pass here. - Census and task runs as above; the task runs on Ubuntu 24.04 VMs. Review round at `34372105`, on macOS with Node v24.22.1: - `6f2553ae` fixes four Greptile threads (replied in each): `made-object` rules count as clock writes, so main's `unknown-clock` withholds them without a clock anchor; a made object links to the id field the create used, including one the caller chose; later creates are checked against made objects as recorded, before any rewrite; and a template is adopted only when it spells the later create's value. Its four tests fail on `c94d0559`. - `ed83de32` and `2e392016` merge #7274's `2887dbf0` and `88e16f10`, which carry the fixes for the other two Greptile threads: #7260's sort checks against entities a list last showed in place, and #7274's soft-delete flag. - `33f954f3` corrects `verification.md`: six plans that stay withheld explain more, not seven; the seventh, Vikunja's bulk task create, is served. - `34372105` merges #7274's `67afb9df`, which answers served deletes with the deleted flag their recorded answer showed and carries #7260's in-turn sort retry (Greptile follow-ups, one posted here). Its census matches `33f954f3` with no plan or view changing; static checks pass but `knip`; `domain` + `services` 11,445 passed; focused boundaries 80 passed; the five MCP schema files: 54 passed. - Static checks pass but `knip`, as on main; `domain` + `services` 11,442 passed; focused boundaries 80 passed; `outputSchemaProfile`, `toolSchemaValidity`, `mcpSchemaValidation`, `outputSchemaSemanticConstraints` and `analysisViewMcp`: 5 files, 54 passed. - Census: 615 plans, 332 served on #7274 and 333 here, as before the round. Against `c94d0559` the only plan that changes is #7260's Metabase `put_card_by_id`, which loses a name sort only its create guessed. Main merge at `6bb373a4` (main `5aa23c3d`), on macOS with Node v24.22.1: - Main's #7267 overlaps this branch in `environmentStateWriteCreate.ts`, `environmentStateWriteCreateCalls.ts` and the recording steps. `2ee34513` merges #7260's main merge up to its set-aside; `121b7f9a` merges main taking main's side where they overlap, so it commits without a conflict (a conflicted merge's pre-commit autofix rewrites main's own files); `938402f8` merges #7274's `ebeea8ce`; and `6bb373a4` puts this branch's side back beside main's: made-object agreement next to the `&` slug spellings, sequence starts in the earlier evidence `earlierOf` now builds, the combined value imports, and recording step 2 next to main's UI-first step 3. It takes skill 53 above #7274's 52. The diff against main touches the same 59 files as before. - Static checks pass but `knip`, which reports `staticFileUrlPath`, `ObjcClassImportBindingCoverage` and `AndroidManifestComponentInventory`, as main does. `domain` + `services`: 11,684 passed, 8 failed (`appleApplication.test.ts`), which fail the same way on main. Focused boundaries 80 passed; the five MCP schema files 54 passed. - Census over the 130 captures: main 279, #7274 332 and this branch 333, as before the merge, and no write goes from served to withheld. Against `34372105` only three Grafana folder creates change, to the rules main gives them. - `2232a53d` keeps a later create's made object only when its clocks are in the rule's format and within the stamp window of that create's own request (Greptile on #7539, which builds on this branch). Its test fails on `7d01a5d5`. Over the 130 captures and the 10-27 round's 18 recordings, no plan changes; static checks pass but `knip` (main's three findings); `domain` + `services` 11,688 passed and 8 failed (main's `appleApplication.test.ts`); focused boundaries 80 passed. - `308aebf0` (on `2362564c`) adds no made-object count a later create alone shows once more than the exemplar was accepted, since those creates held the member unchanged, as the top-level sequence check already refuses (Greptile on #7539). Its direct merge test fails on `2362564c`. Static checks pass (`knip` once `dist` is built, which the worker subpath imports resolve into); `domain` + `services` 11,852 passed; focused boundaries 81 passed. Over the 148 captures, 694 plans and 380 served, the same as `2362564c` with no plan changing. ## Compatibility, safety, and release - Breaking changes or migration steps: none; views with the new members are refused by earlier versions. - Real Hopper/Ghidra, browser, or OS coverage: not applicable; rebuilt from existing recordings. - Package or release metadata impact: skill version 53. - Security, privacy, process, or containment review: no new credential handling. A served bulk create may now create into any project its plan stores in a field. ### Maintainer validation At ba8f1a236, the branch inherits 1106a5263 and rejects a newly learned sequence when earlier accepted creates contradict it. The new sequence regression fails on 2232a53d9. `check:fast` and five focused source test files passed (149 tests). `check:fast`, 73 focused source tests, and 6 MCP boundary tests passed. No new real-provider run was performed. Review fix at 2362564cc: list admission now checks the same live entity membership serving uses. When a captured list includes an initially deleted entity, its state-backed view is withheld as `list-differs` and the recorded response is replayed; item observations remain available. The new producer and serving tests fail on 06cdfe71e. `check:fast`, 145 focused source tests, and 7 built MCP boundary tests passed. Lists requiring replay do not gain dynamic state-backed behavior; no new real-provider run was performed. ## Author readiness Human owner: @earakely-scale - [ ] I reviewed the final diff and relevant existing code, understand the change and its edge cases, and take responsibility for the complete PR, including AI-assisted work. - [ ] I checked the evidence above, confirmed it supports the current change, and recorded meaningful validation gaps. - [ ] I declare this PR ready for initial maintainer review. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) --- 🔄 This issue represents a GitHub Pull Request.
