The Wolf docs suggest multi GPU setups. I got a Nvidia dGPU and an AMD iGPU. Is it possible to use the iGPU for stream encoding only so my dGPU can fully focus on rendering the game in Unraid?
@JBailes commented on GitHub (Jul 1, 2026):
You don't want to do that. We use zero-copy at the GPU-level, in order for it to go from your dGPU to iGPU, you have to make a trip from the first gpu through the pcie bus to the cpu, depending on which igpu it is back over the pcie bus one more time, then to the igpu.
It adds significantly to latency, and the encoder hardware is discrete from the rest of the hardware, there's no negative performance impact to encoding on the same gpu as you are rendering from.
@iiLaurens commented on GitHub (Jul 1, 2026):
Boy that was a fast response! That sounds sensible. It's just confusing that it was suggested as a possibility then
@JBailes commented on GitHub (Jul 1, 2026):
https://github.com/games-on-whales/wolf/issues/449 is where we are headed for multi-gpu support. When Vulkan comes in, we may also begin supporting multi-gpu rendering.
