📄 Description

Summary

The docs/user-visible-errors.csv row for ProcessCli.ts:readJson read is marked implemented/verified, but its replacement text is not what the code produces. Fixes #5473.

Problem and expected behavior

The row records "Process input file could not be read. Check that the path exists and is readable.", while ProcessCli.ts emits the selected path plus the filesystem diagnostic. The row's verification also does not say what the focused test asserts.

Change and scope

Row 61 now records the implemented diagnostic and what tests/boundary/filesystem/processCliFileInput.test.ts asserts (selected path and ENOENT). current_copy and user_risk stay as historical. The adjacent 64 MiB row (#5077) was fixed on main while this PR was open, so this PR no longer touches it; after rebasing, its diff is one CSV row.

Documentation only; no new capability, provider, or target interaction, so a maintainer scope decision is not applicable.

Contract and boundary impact

  • Semantic owner and earliest changed stage: the authored source named above.

  • Contribution scope fit and linked maintainer decision: existing-boundary fix; not applicable.

  • CLI and MCP/tool-catalog contract: unchanged.

  • Provider, bridge, target-format, or platform compatibility: unchanged.

  • Evidence, artifact, provenance, or reconstruction contract: unchanged.

  • Generated metadata, package, or installation impact: none; no generated outputs committed.

  • Read existing files or captured data.

  • Launch or attach to a process.

  • Inject instrumentation or run scripts/code.

  • Change process memory, registers, files, or configuration.

  • Contact network services.

  • Recover protected code or work around protections.

  • Documentation or usability only; no target interaction.

  • Not sure yet; investigation or maintainer guidance needed.

Evidence and regression coverage

Source-derived: the diagnostic text at src/application/process/ProcessCli.ts readJson and the assertions in tests/boundary/filesystem/processCliFileInput.test.ts; the CSV still parses (103 rows). Not executed: any test run or CLI reproduction (dependencies not installed here).

Author readiness

Human owner: @Soumya95

  • I reviewed the final diff and relevant existing code, understand the change and its edge cases, and take responsibility for the complete PR, including AI-assisted work.
  • I checked the evidence above, confirmed it supports the current change, and recorded meaningful validation gaps.
  • I declare this PR ready for initial maintainer review.
