just clone the repo and start gemini inside it, give it the paths to your games in the AGENTS.md or other instructions

Thanks for the report! I couldn't reproduce it on Linux, where the same command installs fine with Gemini CLI 0.62. The likely cause on Windows is the repo's symlinks (GEMINI.md and the skills links). If Git for Windows is set to create symlinks but your account can't, the checkout stops at the first one, and the clone has no gemini-extension.json.

Workaround:

git -c core.symlinks=false clone https://github.com/rehan-remade/universal-modder
gemini extensions install ./universal-modder

Answer y when Gemini asks to trust the folder. A "Failed to discover skills" line about .gemini/skills is harmless.

Could you run a plain git clone https://github.com/rehan-remade/universal-modder and paste its output? If it says "unable to create symlink", that confirms it. #55 adds this workaround to the README.

Follow-up: #58 removes the symlinks altogether. The skills folders agents read are now real copies, so a normal gemini extensions install https://github.com/rehan-remade/universal-modder should work on Windows once it's merged.

#58 removed the symlinks, so gemini extensions install https://github.com/rehan-remade/universal-modder works on Windows now. Closing; reopen if it still fails for you.
