📄 Description

What: relax the "no leaks" rule, as discussed in #59.

Now allowed: knowledge from beta builds and leaked SDKs or source, written in your own words, plus saying where it came from. That covers things like HKX format facts learned from a leaked Havok SDK, or Watch Dogs internals from a beta build.

Still out: the leaked material itself.

  • No pasted leaked code, attached files, download links or license keys.
  • No telling the agent to fetch them.
  • The agent itself never downloads leaked source, builds or SDKs. Using knowledge from them is fine.
  • Mods shouldn't ship leaked code, or need a leaked build to run. (Corrected: an earlier version of this description said that's why H2M was taken down; the sources don't support that, see #79.)

Where it changed:

  • CONTRIBUTING.md: a new "Leaks" hard rule.
  • safety.md: the takedown-risk paragraph.
  • retro-decomp.md: still never download leaked source or builds, and still a note that some decomp projects refuse leak-derived work, so check a project's rules.
  • The reverse-engineering skill's archives line.
  • share-field-notes' "Never include" list.
  • The .agents/skills and .claude/skills copies are refreshed.

Also, the open-source-modding.github.io docs that #46 suggested still stay off the reading list. Its Havok page publishes Havok SDK license keys taken from a retail game build, which this rule keeps out.

Checklist

  • uv run --with pytest pytest -q tests passes (57, including the skill-copies test); um kb check --index and um publish check . pass
